Frequently Asked Questions
1 - How Do I Pay?
We accept payments through Amazon and Paypal. Both are large payment providers and they offer a degree of security that it isn't practical for us to provide on our site.
Amazon customers can pay using their Amazon account by selecting Pay With Amazon at the checkout. There is no need to enter a delivery address or payment method - these can be chosen from those you already have registered with Amazon.
Those that don't have an Amazon account can pay through Paypal. If you have a Paypal account you will already be familiar with how Paypal works. For those that don't have a Paypal account, you can create an account if you wish however this is not compulsory. If you don't want to create an account you can select Paypal from the checkout, then click the Checkout as Guest option when you are re-directed to the Paypal website. Here you can enter card and delivery details, before returning to our site.
Whichever option you choose, you are using a PCI compliant payment system. As such either payment method is independently verified as being secure. Details of how this happens are available directly from Amazon and Paypal. Your card details are not sent to us or held on our server - we only receive confirmation that the payment has been successful.
Please note that delivery charges are not confirmed until a delivery address has been selected and your payment pre-approved.
2 - What About Delivery?
Delivery charges depend on the weight of the order. This means that it often does not cost any more to post a second item. To get an estimate of the delivery charge add items to your basket then go to the checkout. In the section to the right select your country and postcode/zip, then click estimate.
Within the UK smaller orders (usually less than 2kg) are sent via Royal Mail 1st Class. Heavier or higher value orders will be sent by 48-hour courier and will require a signature on delivery.
Outsite the UK smaller orders (usually less than 2kg) are usually sent via Royal Mail Airmail. Heavier or higher value orders will be sent by courier and a signature will normally be required on delivery. Delivery times vary for each country.
Orders are normally dispatched the next working day after the order is received, though at busy times this may be 2 working days after an order is received. If you need an item delivered by a specific date please contact us on 01274 627401 during office hours (10.00am - 5.00pm UK Time, Monday to Friday).
3 - Do You Have A Shop / Can I Collect?
We don't have a shop, so unfortunately you can't come and have a look around at what we have. We will try and accomodate collections where possible, as long as we know in advance. We can also take items to any of the toy fairs that we sell at, so if there's something you want a better look at we can always bring it along to a fair.
4 - Do You Buy / Where Does You Stuff Come From?
Historically, much of what we sold came from auction, car boots and toy fairs. We still buy from all of these sources, but these days, many of the items we sell come directly to us. We buy collections directly from people wanting to sell and depending on the size of the collection may travel to view the collection, or arrange to meet you at one of the toy fairs where we sell. Meeting at a toy fair is often a better option, especially if you have a single or few items in the collection as it is often not viable to buy single items when delivery costs are taken into account. Selling directly to us often means the seller gets a better price as neither of us pay auction fees and so we can afford to offer a better price. Either way, you can get in touch with us through the Contact Us page to see if it's something we might be interested in. Please note, as a general rule, we do not buy toys with wheels (cars, trains, lorries, buses...).
5 - Do You Have A Mailing List?
No. Due to the nature of our website, stock availability can change in minutes. This means that a mailing list could be out of date by the time we've finished compiling it. However, depending on which internet browser you use, you may be able to subscribe to our RSS feeds. These are hidden pieces of information that can be used to provide alerts when a page changes. We usually use the Chrome browser and to the right of the address bar there is a logo that looks like this - . On almost all of our pages (including Whats New) if you click this icon you should be able to click the big plus to add the feed for that page. Once you've done that you should get an alert every time a new product is added to that page. For other browsers (or even dedicated RSS Feed Readers) try a search on the internet as there are many other apps out there that will do this.
6 - What Happened to Ebay?
We still sell on eBay, but everything that is available in our eBay shop is also available here - usually at a lower price to reflect the fact that we don't have to pay eBay to sell here. You're also better off on our website as it calculates delivery charges based on the weight of the items that you buy. On eBay we offer free shipping on most items, which means that you pay for shipping on everything. For example if you buy 2x Teddy Bear suitcases on eBay they are £10.99. If you buy them on here they are £7 + £3.50 delivery. Not a big saving, but as they say - every little helps. If you buy two though, the delivery on the website is still £3.50, so £14 + £3.50, whereas on eBay as you get 'free' shipping there's no postage discount so it costs you £21.98 - £4.48 more.
